The Director of Public Works and Chief of Engineering Services staffs the Engineering Department.
Its primary responsibilities include planning, engineering and construction of Town's infrastructure
including roads, sidewalks and drainage. The Department provides a wide range of technical assistance
to residents, businesses, contractors, consultants and realtors. Support is also provided to Administration,
Highway & Grounds, Cemetery, Water & Sewer Departments, Inspections Department, Recreation Department, Police
& Fire Departments, the Town Manager's Office and various town committees.
The Engineering Department stores, maintains and updates public records, maps
and plans in addition to administering public works projects of all kinds. Construction
plans, estimates and documents are prepared, reviewed and bid; construction inspections
are also performed. The Department is frequently asked to assist in the procurement of
professional services for other Town Departments.
