Other Grant-Funded Projects
The Town has participated in the Department of Environmental Management’s Mass Releaf program. Several trees have been planted, including six red maples in various parks and three red oaks in the cul de sac at Lynn Lane this year.
Restoration of Town Hall stained glass, and complete renovation and restoration of the Town Hall slate roof have been completed through Ma Historical Commission grants. This year, the Town Hall steps and front façade will receive much needed repairs through this program.
The Town is also proud to have taken part other Massachusetts grant programs to create the Heritage Nature Trail that follows the Quinebaug River behind the West Street School. The trail has also been the recipient of volunteer efforts from Eagle Scouts and more recently Americorps. Soon, the trail will be lengthened to cross the river and continue into Sturbridge.
