The Southbridge Police Department currently has one K9 who specializes in searching for narcotics.
K9 "Pablo" is a Belgian Malinois who is handled by Officer Rich Reddick. Pablo is certified to detect the odors of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamines through the North American Police Working Dog Association (NAPWDA). Pablo is also certified through the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA). Pablo has assisted the Southbridge Police Department in detecting illicit substances such as drugs, resulting in the confiscation of hundreds of thousands of dollars used for narcotics violations.
K9s live at home with their respective handlers. They are considered invaluable members of the Southbridge Police Department.
