A Message on Responsible Lawn & Garden Care

A picture of lush, green grass.

Spring is here, and as warmer weather approaches, Southbridge residents will be heading outside to tend to their lawns and gardens. Engaging in responsible lawn & garden care will help to reduce pollution and protect our shared resources. Please review this flyer, provided courtesy of Think Blue Massachusetts. It has tips for responsible lawn & garden maintenance and ways that you can help prevent excess nutrient pollution in our waterbodies.

The Town of Southbridge offers curbside pickup of bagged yard waste and bins for residential yard waste drop-off. For more information about these services, see the Health Department's Yard Waste & Compost page.

Did You Know? The Long Island Sound, where all of the surface water in Southbridge eventually flows, is impacted by high levels of nitrogen. The Environmental Protection Agency, via the US Clean Waters Act, has placed a limit on the amount of nitrogen entering the sound, and that's why we're reaching out to you to do your part! Thank you for your help in keeping our water clean.
